Big news for Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM) is sending the coins’ prices up. As a result, Ripple and Stellar currently have the largest percentage gains in the past 24 hours out of the top ten cryptocurrencies.
Ripple is currently selling for $1.05, putting the coin up 12.84% in the past 24 hours.
After spending just over a week trading below $1.00, XRP has finally breached the $1.00 mark once more, to the relief of Ripple investors everywhere. The coin’s growth does seem to be slowing down a bit now, however, bringing to light the question of Ripple’s endurance. How long will Ripple’s growth last?
What is causing XRP’s current growth? Crypto rumors are flying. The fuel behind the rumors is that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse will be making an appearance tomorrow on CNBC’s ‘Fast Money,’ along with Coinbase President and COO Asiff Hirji.
This has reignited the whisperings that Ripple will soon be supported by Coinbase. If you’re experiencing deja vu, don’t worry – this isn’t the first time people have speculated this. The rumors of Ripple joining Coinbase ended up being false last time – there’s no guarantee that the appearance by Garlinghouse and Hirji means an agreement has been formed between the Ripple and Coinbase.
Neither Coinbase nor Ripple has made any statement of confirmation up to this point. Investors will have to wait until tomorrow to find out the truth.
Ripple’s growth is also being helped by major South Korean demand. XRP trading has surged on several top Asian exchanges, such as Bithumb. Are the Asian markets listening to the Coinbase rumours, or is something else driving their trades?
If the Coinbase rumours turn out to be true, Ripple’s price will likely take off from here. However, if false, the attention currently being paid to Ripple might quickly fade away.
Stellar is currently selling for $0.388630, which puts the coin up 9.38% in the past 24 hours.
Stellar still looks to be growing according to the chart above, although XLM did taper off a bit a few hours earlier.
Stellar’s growth is likely still riding the announcement of a pre-release for a Stellar Lumens wallet. Although little more information has been released on the matter, XLM continues to grow today.
